Office Policies
Cancellations
We ask that you cancel your appointment as soon as you know you can’t make it. A 2-hour notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment. A $25 fee will be applied if proper notice is not given.
ADHD Medications
Stimulant medications are controlled substances. They require special prescription pads and meticulous documentation. Stimulant medication refills have a $10 charge and 24hr turn around time. We also require regular in-office visits to monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
Camp/Day Care/School Forms and Shot Records
We try to fill out most forms during an office visit. If you need a form completed or a shot record outside of an office visit, there is a $10 fee and 24 hour turn around time. We can complete sports physicals in the office, but please bring your form with you to the appointment. Since different schools require different forms, we may not have the required form that you need. An updated copy of your shot record will be given any time a shot is given. Make sure to keep it in a safe place for when you need it!
After-Hours
If you need assistance after 5pm during the week or any time on the weekend, you will be transferred to Medlink, our answering service. They will page the on-call doctor. Please try to limit your calls to urgent matters. If it is not urgent, please save it for our nurse during office hours. Medication refills should be requested during business hours only. Often, your insurance provides a free nurse line or you may be able to get answers online at the medication dosing page or AAP Healthychildren.org SYMPTOM CHECKER
Financial Policy
It is your responsibility to know what your insurance covers and any requirements for pre-authorization, deductibles, and limitations on well-child visits, lab services, immunizations, and other procedures. Click here to view the full Financial Policy.
Please note the Account Guarantor section:
In divorce situations, the parent who brings the child in for the visit is responsible for payment of
copays and deductibles collected at the time of service. The parent who signs the financial agreement is the parent
responsible for balances remaining on the account after insurance has paid.
Vaccines
We believe vaccines play a vital role in protecting your child’s health and our community’s well-being. At Austex Pediatrics, we follow the immunization schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics to provide safe, evidence-based care and help prevent serious childhood illnesses. Please note:
To ensure the best protection for our patients, we do not skip or delay any recommended vaccinations. We follow the American Academy of Pediatrics immunization schedule for all children in our practice.
